That this question even needed to be asked and answered is all the evidence anyone needs that the TSA is completely out of control.
(Also, I haven’t done a whole lot of research, yet, but I can say with complete confidence that someone who is politically connected to Bush and Obama is making money off of these new “security” policies.)
That’s exactly what happened. Michael Chertoff (former head of Homeland Security under Bush) wrote an op-ed in the Washington Post in January about the need for full body scanners. He also was a talking head on any show that would have him, arguing on more full-body scans at major airports. Rapiscan, one of two companies that supplies the TSA with full body scanners, is a client of the Chertoff Group. The Chertoff Group is a risk management and security consulting company co-founded by Michael Chertoff.
Chertoff admitted to having Rapiscan as a client only after being directly asked live on CNN (Apparently the Chertoff group keeps their client list private).
